Iowa’s Democratic Chair Is Off Her Rocker

As I was watching and listening to all of the political hype occurring with the Iowa caucuses, I caught an interview with Rep Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D) who just happens to be the chairperson of the state’s Democratic Party.

During her interview with a major news network, she repeatedly mentioned how much President Obama has done to help the middle working class.  She described him as being the president of the middle class and she said it as if she really believed he is.

So let’s take a brief moment to see just how friendly Obama has been to middle class America.

Since taking office three years ago, unemployment has increased, foreclosures have increased, new home sales has decreased, numerous reports indicate that the number of middle class families are decreasing and the number of Americans living in poverty has increased.

Traditionally, the Democratic Party’s largest hubs of support are the major metropolitan cities.  In the past several presidential elections, that trend can be seen on the red and blue maps.  Evidently, these must be the middle class people that Rep Schultz is speaking of, so let’s take a look at a few of these cities and Obama’s middle class.

  • Phoenix, Arizona has seen 1 of every 48 housing units foreclosed and the average price of a home drop by over 55%.
  • Boise, Idaho has seen 1 of every 70 housing units foreclosed and the average price of a home drop by 30%.
  • Atlanta, Georgia has seen 1 of every 79 housing units foreclosed and the average price of a home drop by 26%.
  • Tucson, Arizona has seen 1 of every 93 housing units foreclosed and the average price of a home drop by 40%.
  • Chicago, Illinois (Obama’s home town) has seen 1 of every 125 housing units foreclosed and the average price of a home drop by over 31%.
  • Jacksonville, Florida has seen 1 of every 154 housing units foreclosed and the average price of a home drop by nearly 38%.
  • Portland, Oregon has seen 1 of every 211 housing units foreclosed and the average price of a home drop by over 26%.
  • Camden, New Jersey has seen 1 of every 371 housing units foreclosed and the average price of a home drop by 23%.

Similar figures can be shown for an increase in unemployment and decrease in average family income.  If Debbie Wasserman Schultz truly believes that this is positively working for middle class America, the Iowa Democratic chair is definitely off her rocker and completely out of touch with reality.
